In the Pocket nominated for the Mobile premier awards 2011

At the Apps Marathon, which took place 27th September at the Claridge in Brussels, the Samsonite Travel Miles application, developed by In the Pocket, was voted ‘Best Mobile Application’ with more than 40% of the votes. Winning the event nominates In the Pocket for the Mobile Premier Awards in February 2011 in Barcelona.

The Mobile Premier Awards take place during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and are considered as the point of reference for companies active in mobile. The best mobile initiatives from over the world will be judged by an international jury.

In the Pocket is a young company based in Ghent (Belgium). It was founded by Pieterjan Bouten, Louis Jonckheere & Jeroen Lemaire. In the Pocket specializes in the development of mobile applications and websites. The winning Samsonite application was developed for iPhone and Android and will be available in the Apple App Store (October) and the Android Market Place (November).

The application is essentially a modern adaptation of the well-known Air Miles concept. When using the application, a traveler can easily collect travelled miles. By doing so, real gifts can be unlocked and claimed at the Samsonite webshop. The application is strategically interlaced with social sharing features.

The creative communications manager of Samsonite Europe, Edouard Wattel, is very pleased with the nomination. “The Samsonite Travel Miles application is not only a fun experience but, more importantly, a relevant and useful tool for all travelers. This means that it services existing and future Samsonite customers. The application combines branding, loyalty and conversion: the dream of every marketing communications expert.”

Integration with the webshop was done in cooperation with Frucon, the partner for Samsonite Europe in e-commerce since 2009.

Participating in the Mobile Premier Awards means international exposure for In the Pocket. As the only Belgian company they are looking forward to defending that honor.
